Skin Type: Combination Skin with Acne and Uneven Skin Tone
What is Acne Prone Combination Skin with an Uneven Skin Tone ?
If you have skin that's dry in some spots (cheeks) and oily in others (forehead, nose and chin) and you have both acne, pimples, breakouts and an uneven skin tone, then chances are you have this skin type.
- When you have acne or breakouts they can often leave dark marks known as post inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
- You could have combination/dry skin where the majority of the face is dry and breakouts and or dark marks on any part of your face
- Or you could have combination/oily where the majority of the skin is oily.
- The oilier areas will have enlarged pores and the drier areas will have small, less noticeable pores.
- It's important to seek balance and to use products that work on both the oily and dry areas that help stop acne in its tracks and help even out your skin tone. In other words, you need the perfect combination of skin care products.
What Ingredients Work Best ?
WILLOW BARK
- I cannot say enough wonderful things about this plant. It's where BHAs or Beta Hydroxy Acids are made. Willow Bark is a natural astringent which helps tighten pores, and the BHA is essential to fighting acne and skin discoloration. It's also an anti-inflammatory which means it calms irritated sensitive skin.

Skin Care Tips
- It can be a frustrating experience trying to balance combination skin. It is common to breakout from skin care products that work on the dry areas, but are too rich for the oily areas.
- The key to keeping combination skin healthy is keeping the pores unclogged on the oilier areas and keeping the dry areas hydrated and moisturized.
- One of the best ways to do this is to use products that work well on both areas.
- Our vitamin and herb infused Deep Pore Cleansing Lotion will deeply cleanse the oily areas and keep your pores clear while also gently cleansing the dry areas without stripping it of its natural oils.
- The Hydrating Serum contains the highest concentration of ingredients to nourish, hydrate and bring balance to your skin.
- Regular use of a mask or an exfoliating cleanser will keep pores clean and clear as well as cause them to appear smaller.
- Sunscreen will protect your skin and help even your skin tone.
Causes of Acne
Genes
- Sometimes acne runs in families and may have a genetic link. This type of acne is characterized as an excessively oily skin, skin cells that over produce, and skin that produces a lot of bacteria and inflammation. Chances are that if one or both of your parents have acne, you may develop acne too.
- The breakouts usually start on the chin then move to the forehead and ultimately the cheeks. This type of acne usually responds to antibiotics and prescription medications. Because this type of skin produces so much oil, it is usually not sensitive.
Hormones and Stress
- Acne can also be caused by hormones and stress and can occur within any skin type. These acne breakouts usually occur on the lower half of the face and may include the chest, back and shoulders. This type of acne usually doesn't respond to antibiotics.
Other Causes
- Persons who have oily and very oily skin, especially in warm and humid climates, and wear moisturizers end up clogging their pores resulting in acne.
- Every pimple began as a blackhead, but not every black head will turn into a pimple. Once again, blackheads clog the pores resulting in acne.
